Everything You Need to Know Before You Book

General

Mahamukti — Sanskrit for “great liberation” — is a Yoga Alliance USA registered school founded in 2012 by Yogi Akhilesh Bodhi (E-RYT 500), a teacher in the Sivananda lineage with 20+ years of experience across 50+ countries. We run 100, 200, and 300 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings and yoga retreats at three locations: Mandrem in North Goa, Ubud in Bali, and Rishikesh.
Our flagship campus is in Mandrem, a quiet coastal village in North Goa, India, a short walk from the beach. We also run a 200 Hour programme in Ubud, Bali — the spiritual heart of Indonesia — and offer training in Rishikesh. Each location shares the same curriculum depth and Yoga Alliance certification.
Our curriculum covers Hatha, Ashtanga (including the complete Primary Series in 200-hour and above), Vinyasa, and Yin yoga, alongside pranayama, meditation, mantra, yoga philosophy, and anatomy. The exact blend depends on which programme you join.
If you want a short, immersive introduction without committing to teacher training, a 5–7 day retreat is a great starting point. If you’re ready to deepen your practice and possibly begin teaching, the 100 Hour is a manageable 12-day entry point. If you want the full, internationally recognised professional qualification (RYT-200), our 200 Hour programme in Goa or Bali is the standard path. Message us on WhatsApp and we’re happy to talk through what fits your goals and schedule.

Enrollment & Eligibility

For the 100 and 200 Hour programmes, no prior teaching experience is required — we ask for at least six months of consistent personal yoga practice. Complete beginners with a genuine, dedicated practice are welcome. The 300 Hour advanced programme requires an existing Yoga Alliance RYT-200 certificate or equivalent.
You must be at least 18 years old to enroll in any of our Yoga Teacher Training programmes or retreats.
Message us on WhatsApp or email with the programme and batch dates you’re interested in. We’ll answer any questions, confirm availability, and send you an application form. A refundable deposit secures your seat once accepted.
Our popular batches — especially 200 Hour Goa and Bali during the November–March high season — fill several months ahead. We recommend booking at least 60 days in advance both to secure your spot and to qualify for early-bird pricing.
We keep our 100 and 200 Hour batches to a maximum of 12 students for personal attention. Our 300 Hour advanced programme is capped at just 8 students, given the emphasis on 1:1 mentorship.

Fees & Payment

Residential packages include your tuition, accommodation for the full duration, three vegetarian meals a day plus tea, study materials and a printed course manual, your Yoga Alliance certificate, and airport pickup. Non-residential options (tuition plus lunch only) are available for local students who don’t need accommodation.
A refundable deposit confirms your place in a batch and is applied toward your total fee. The remaining balance is typically due before or upon arrival. We accept bank transfer and other payment methods — we’ll share full details once your application is confirmed.
Yes. Booking 60 or more days ahead of your batch start date qualifies you for early-bird pricing across all our programmes — typically around 10–12% off the standard fee.
Cancellations 60+ days before your batch start receive a refund minus a small admin fee. Between 30–60 days, you receive a 50% refund. Within 30 days, the deposit becomes non-refundable but can be transferred to a future batch at no extra cost. Full details are on our Refund & Cancellation Policy page.

Certification

Yes. Mahamukti Yoga Academy is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance USA — the world’s largest and most widely recognised yoga certification body. Our RYT-100, RYT-200, and RYT-300 certificates are accepted by studios, gyms, retreat centres, and wellness employers in over 120 countries.
Yes. An RYT-100 or RYT-200 qualifies you to teach yoga classes, private sessions, and workshops globally. Our programmes include hands-on teaching practicum, so you graduate having already led real classes — not just studied theory.
RYT-200 is the foundational professional teaching credential. RYT-300 is an advanced designation earned through additional training beyond the 200-hour level. Completing an RYT-200 plus 300 hours of further Yoga Alliance-registered training (such as our 300 Hour programme) makes you eligible for RYT-500 — the highest designation Yoga Alliance offers.
There’s no written exam. Certification is based on full attendance, active participation, and successfully completing your assessed teaching segments during the practicum — most students graduate as long as they engage fully with the programme.

Life During the Course

Days begin early (around 5:45–6:00 am) with pranayama and meditation, followed by morning asana practice, breakfast, theory/philosophy or anatomy classes, lunch and rest, teaching practicum or a second practice session, evening meditation or Yin yoga, and dinner. Each course page has a detailed sample schedule.
In Goa, you’ll stay in comfortable ashram-style rooms with attached bathrooms, a short walk from Mandrem beach. In Bali, accommodation is in a traditional jungle villa compound near Ubud’s rice terraces. Both are simple, clean, and chosen for calm, natural surroundings rather than luxury.
All programmes include three freshly prepared sattvic (yogic) vegetarian meals a day, plus herbal tea and snacks. We can generally accommodate common dietary needs — please let us know about allergies or restrictions when you apply.
Yes — the afternoon rest period after lunch is unstructured time for the beach, journalling, personal study, or rest. Evenings after dinner are also generally free, though some evenings include optional group activities like satsang or mantra chanting.
Yes, Wi-Fi is available at our campuses in Goa and Bali, though we do encourage students to use their time on the mat and away from screens as much as possible — it’s part of what makes the training genuinely restorative.

Travel & Visa

Fly into Manohar International Airport (MOPA) in North Goa, about 20 minutes from Mandrem, or Dabolim Airport (GOI), about 90 minutes away. Residential students receive a complimentary airport pickup from either airport.
Fly into Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) in southern Bali. Ubud is about 45 minutes away by car. Residential students receive a complimentary airport transfer, arranged by our team.
For India, most international students can enter on a standard tourist e-visa — we recommend checking current requirements for your nationality well ahead of travel. For Bali, most nationalities receive a 30-day visa-on-arrival, extendable for another 30 days locally, which comfortably covers our 20-day Bali programme. Visa rules change, so always verify with the nearest embassy or official immigration website before booking flights.
In Goa, October to April (the dry season) offers warm, sunny conditions ideal for open-air yoga, with November–March being most popular. In Bali, the dry season runs April to October. Both destinations also run quieter monsoon/rainy-season batches that many practitioners specifically prefer for their introspective atmosphere.
Yes, we strongly recommend it. Travel insurance covering trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and lost luggage is a sensible precaution for any international training or retreat booking.

Retreats

A retreat is a shorter, no-pressure experience (5–7 days) focused on rest, daily practice, and gentle immersion — no certification, no assessments. A Yoga Teacher Training is a structured curriculum leading to a Yoga Alliance certificate, with a defined syllabus, theory classes, and a teaching practicum.
No. Our retreats are designed for all levels, including complete beginners and first-time visitors to India. Classes are adapted to the group’s overall level each day.
Absolutely — many of our YTTC students first joined us for a retreat. If you’d like to extend your stay directly into a 100 or 200 Hour programme, let us know when booking and we’ll help coordinate the dates.
